Police arrested two kidnappers troubling Ekiti State

Ekiti State Police Command, yesterday, arrested two people believed to be kidnappers, who have been terrorising the people of the state lately.

This disclosure was made in Ado Ekiti in a broadcast by the state governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose.

According to Fayose, one Olumide, 31 and one Folorunsho, both from Esure Ekiti, were arrested by the police between Ikere and Iju, while trying to escape.

Also arrested was a woman believed to be the wife of one of the kidnappers, simply known as Augustina.

He further said a manhunt has been launched for the remaining five to six kidnappers, who are believed to hail from Benin and its environs in Edo State.

Governor Fayose, who noted that the three people who accommodated them were also arrested, said his government is planning to enact a law that will empower the police to arrest landlords of criminals in the state.

He reiterated the readiness of government to reward anyone one who could provide useful information leading to arrest of kidnappers and armed robbers.

Fayose further advised people of the state particularly residents of Atikankan and Bata areas of the state capital, considered as the hideouts of criminals, to report any suspected person to the police.

He also warned security personnel who have been serving as informants to the criminals to desist from such acts, saying whoever is caught will face severe consequences.
