The Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Abdu Illellah, made this known in a statement issued in Bauchi, the state capital.
According to Mr. Illellah, the curfew is in effect in Bauchi da Kirfi and Alkaleri local government areas of the state.
Earlier Sunday morning, SaharaReporters had reported that Boko Haram launched attacks in the affected areas. The Islamist militants burnt down electoral materials and offices as well in the course of the attacks.
The curfew imposed by the governor is however generating controversy as voters in the state have accused the governor of planning to rig the recently concluded elections in the state using the curfew as cover.
