Garba says the same instruction applies to the State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Simeon Ajibola; his Labour Party counterpart, Dr. Mike Omotosho, and other governorship candidates in the state.
He spoke during a media briefing in Ilorin on Thursday on the command’s preparedness to ensure free, fair and violence-free elections in the state.
He stated that the governorship candidates were not accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission to monitor elections and so should not be lawbreakers.
He added that they would not be allowed to go to the polling booths with their security operatives.
Salihu said, “All the candidates for the election, I think, will not want to record a minus by not exercising their franchise so as to cast votes for themselves or for their preferred candidate in the other elections.
“I am sure they will be at their own locality to cast their votes. Moreso, I do not think they want to be lawbreakers because they are not accredited by INEC to monitor elections.”
He stated that the command would enforce the restriction on vehicular movement from 8am to 5pm on election days, except people on essential duties.
He added that the command would strictly ensure compliance with other directives by the Force Headquarters and the Electoral Act.
