Tribunal Give fair Judgment - Ekwunife

Onitsha—The senator-elect for Anambra Central senatorial district, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, has called on the election petition tribunal sitting in Awka to ensure a free and fair judgment in the petitions filed by candidates from various political parties’ candidates contesting the April 11 National Assembly poll.

Speaking to reporters in Awka shortly after she filed her reply to the petition brought against her victory by Chief Victor Umeh of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, at the tribunal, Ekwunife said she won the senatorial election convincingly, adding that Umeh had no reason to challenge the result of the election.

Ekwunife, a serving member representing Njikoka, Anaocha and Dunukofia Constituency in the House of Representatives, noted that her party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  defeated Chief Victor Umeh roundly in all elective positions in Anambra Central senatorial district.

According to her, despite the hate campaigns against her and all efforts made by the state government to frustrate her ambition through letters to presidents-general, traditional rulers, religious bodies as well as market leaders, the people came out in their numbers to vote her into office.

She expressed confidence that the Election Petitions Tribunal, headed by Justice Aganaba, would do justice to the petition brought against her, insisting that the election was free, fair and credible.

“I have faith in the tribunal. The matter is not a complicated one because everything is clear enough to prove that I won the election,” she said.
