I’ll work with Plateau’s 53 tribes – Gov-elect
Plateau State Governor-elect, Simon Lalong, on Monday visited Plateau State indigenes resident in the Federal Capital Territory under the auspices of Plateau Stakeholders, Abuja, with a promise to work with all the 53 tribes in the state.
While describing their contributions at the just concluded elections as awesome, Lalong said the great roles they played in the last polls “saved the state from tribalism,” which he alleged was imposed by Governor Jonah Jang administration.
“The great roles, support and contributions the Plateau people played and ensure our victory during the just concluded state governorship election will forever be remembered,” Lalong said.
He promised to involve members of PSA in constituting a reputable government for the benefit of all.
Lalong said, “We will ensure that all the 53 tribes in the state make their inputs into our government. This is a government for all. The All Progressives Congress led-government in Plateau State will heal the wounds of hates and disunity. I want to assure all Plateau people that we will also work with an Elders Advisory Council from Abuja for the good governance of our people.”
The Deputy governor-elect, Prof. Sonny Tyoden, said the successes within could not have been without the role played by the Plateau Stakeholders in Abuja, describing the forum’s support as a source of great encouragement.”
He said, “We are in Abuja to thank our Plateau people for the support. Indeed, they have shown that whereever they are, they love Plateau State. We are indeed grateful.”
The Chairman, PSA, Mr Nankpak Nden, thanked the governor-elect for deeming it necessary to pay them a visit.
